Used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for centuries, ginseng has been prized for centuries, and in TCM it is often blended with other herbs to create “tinctures”, or tea-like tonics.

Its appearance is very interesting, it is a twisted root that is light brown in color and has stringy shoots like arms and legs; if you have ever seen the Harry Potter series, it looks similar to those creepy human-like screaming mandrakes (without the faces of course!). Both Asian and American ginseng have similar chemical compounds and generally taste similar, both species are in the Araliaceae plant family.

In this blog we will begin to explore the world of ginseng, and tell you about its taste and traditions.

Energizing Effect

This energetic, strong drink keeps you active and on your feet all day long naturally boosting your energy. Ginseng tea is traditionally drunk as an energizing tonic.

If you have high blood pressure, check with your doctor before drinking ginseng.
