Description

High Mountain Qilan Oolong is a rare Wuyi rock tea cultivated deep within mist-filled mountain valleys at an elevation of 1, 600 meters. Grown in secluded gardens beneath ancient forests, these centuries-old Qilan tea trees thrive in a pristine, high-altitude environment shaped by cool temperatures, drifting clouds, and mineral-rich soil.

Each leaf is hand-picked by experienced tea farmers, following traditions similar to top-tier Dancong teas. Wild blue orchids bloom naturally among the tea trees, sharing the same untouched ecosystem. This quiet coexistence reflects the purity of the land and lends the tea its elegant, mountain-born character—mysterious, refined, and deeply expressive.

The dry leaves are tightly twisted and uniform, dark brown with subtle smoky blue-grey tones. They feel dense and powerful in the hand, carrying the presence of rocky cliffs and time. When infused, a clear floral-fruity aroma rises immediately, joined by warm nutty notes, airy orchid fragrance, and the signature “rock rhyme” unique to true Wuyi oolongs, developed through slow charcoal roasting.

The liquor shines a luminous amber-gold, with a delicate golden ring at the edge of the cup. On the palate, the tea is silky and smooth—full-bodied yet refreshing. Mineral depth unfolds gradually, followed by a long, layered sweetness that returns gently to the throat. Orchid fragrance lingers between the teeth and cheeks, finishing with a crystalline, honeyed sweetness reminiscent of mountain spring water.

This High Mountain Qilan expresses both the vitality of ancient trees and the refinement of modern craftsmanship. It is a balanced, elegant rock oolong where terroir and human artistry come together, offering depth, clarity, and an enduring aftertaste that rewards slow, attentive brewing.
