Giant King Silver Needles Puerh – Smooth Bud-Only Ripe Pu-erh

Giant King Silver Needles Puerh is a unique ripe (shou) pu-erh made entirely from young, silvery-white buds. It's grown on Mount Bitter Bamboo in Pu'er, Yunnan, at an altitude of 1, 800 meters — an ideal tea-growing region famous for its long tea history.

These tender buds are fermented in bamboo baskets for 30 days, then aged and fully oxidized for six months to develop and draw out their woodsy, smooth taste. Because it's made only from buds, this pu-erh is exceptionally smooth, clean and refined compared with typical leaf pu-erh.

Tasting Notes

  • Dry leaf: silvery, needle-like buds
  • Liquor: strikingly clear reddish brown
  • Aroma: woodsy, like a damp forest floor
  • Flavor: smooth and very earthy, with woodsy notes and mushroom broth
  • Finish: ultra-smooth, with no bitterness

Why You'll Love It

Giant King offers a refined, woodsy pu-erh experience with none of the harshness some pu-erhs can have. Its clarity and smoothness make it a wonderful choice for pu-erh beginners and a rewarding tea for connoisseurs. It's also a naturally fermented tea, traditionally enjoyed after meals.

  • Made entirely from young silver buds
  • Grown at 1, 800 meters in Pu'er, Yunnan
  • Basket-fermented and aged
  • Ultra-smooth with no bitterness

How to Enjoy

Brew it gongfu-style and enjoy it over multiple steeps to experience its evolving depth. It's a comforting coffee alternative in the morning and a smooth after-dinner tea.

Smooth, earthy and beautifully refined, Giant King Silver Needles is ripe pu-erh at its most elegant.

It is good Pu'er. The taste is clean and full of Pu'er's flavor. It matches the beautiful fall in Canada, just like the sunshine among the trees.

I found this to be just okay. Had a very musky odor that required a triple hot rinse to be palatable. It was fine after that, but unremarkable in my opinion.
